Life in the NFL for Kyler Murray has been shaky at best. After finishing with a 5-10-1 record in his rookie season as quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, Murray seemed to have finally found his footing in the NFL with a 5-2 start this season.
But things quickly fell apart for the Cardinals who currently sit 3rd in the NFC West with a 6-6 record. A lot has been said about Murray’s role in this slump, given his inconsistent performances.
Former Packer Greg Jennings, however, feels that Kyler isn’t the only one to blame.

Kingsbury’s decision making letting the team down
Jennings said that it was unfair to pin all the blame on Murray, who isn’t being helped by questionable play calls. “So two things, it’s more than just Kyler.
“In my opinion, when you say Kyler Murray, you’re saying Kliff Kingsbury, as well, because the adjustments haven’t been there. In the games that I watched, they haven’t made the proper adjustments,” said Jennings.
Kyler Murray needs to run the ball more
Jennings feels that Kyler’s evasiveness and his ability to run the ball are elements that the Cardinals need to explore at the least, if not exploit. “Kyler Murray has to understand players make plays in this league.
“Just because you can throw the ball with elite ability, and you have the opportunity to run the ball with elite ability doesn’t mean you need to just do one. Be special, be what makes you different.”
Pocket passer doesn’t quite fit Kyler’s MO
Kyler’s ability of running the ball has been well documented since his college football days, something that we haven’t seen much of over the course of the past few games.

“Kyler Murray is a talented individual. He has to embrace the fact that he has the legs, the shifting ability, and a quickness that is unmatched.
“Yep, use it. Lean into it and stop trying to just be a pocket passer. That is not going to cut it for a guy his size, his height who has all these extra skillsets and tools. Use them all (Kyler)!” urged Jennings.

Forcing Murray to settle into the role of a pocket passer seems just as absurd as driving a race in reverse. What sets a great team apart from a good team is the fact that the former tailors its style of play according to the pièce de résistance of their star players.
It would do the Arizona Cardinals a world of good to introspect and remodel their offense in a way that brings the best out of all their players.
