Throwing like it’s Super Bowl
Ben Affleck recalled the unnerving encounter with Tom Brady in an interview back in 2021. In the interview, Affleck shared the details of his time playing catch with the superstar quarterback during his time with the Patriots. And his mentality that makes all those clutch plays possible.
“Even when we were playing catch, we weren’t just playing catch — he would say, ‘Alright, it’s the Super Bowl. We’re on the 16-yard line, it’s fourth down. We have six seconds. We win this, it’s everything. We miss, it’s over.,” Affleck said. The actor then detailed how Brady’s mentality affected him and his dedication to actually catch the ball, come what may.

“Even just listening to him, I thought we were in the Super Bowl and thought, ‘I’ll do anything to catch this ball.’ And because I was so slow, the ball was a little past me and I lept out and dove. I think I was doing my ‘Batman’ at the time and was like ‘Never mind my career. Never mind my aging body,’” Affleck added.
So, Brady’s secret to all those fourth quarter comebacks and clutch plays is out in public.
Comeback king Tom Brady
Tom Brady is a king of the NFL with seven Super Bowl titles. But his authority in the fourth quarter is unmatched. On numerous occasions, when his team is almost on the brink of a crushing defeat, he turns the game upside down in the dying seconds. In the career spanning 22 years, the greatest quarterback of all time has the most number of game winning drives in the history of the NFL, doing it 56 times. But to give a number that is even more awe-inspiring, Brady has registered 44 comeback wins in the fourth quarter or later. There is a reason he is the GOAT.

It was especially difficult against the Saints as he had not thrown a single touchdown at home against them in the previous two games. But Brady threw two of those in five minutes to take the score from 3-16 to 17-16. With that, he also broke Peyton Manning’s record of most fourth quarter comebacks in NFL history. Stuff that dreams are made of.
