LenDale White opened up about the ‘widow-maker’ heart attack he suffered a few years back. Speaking on Brandon Marshall and Pacman Jones’ ‘I Am Athlete ‘ podcast, White revealed the details of the health issue and how it changed his life. Marshall and Jones recently also spoke with ex-NFL star Marshawn Lynch.

“My [left anterior descending artery] was clogged, and I had to have two stints shot into my heart so my blood can flow again. It’s called a ‘widow-maker’ because you’re really not supposed to make it back from that,” White told Marshall and Jones.

White said that he was so scared, and the heart attack changed his life forever. He also revealed that due to the issue, he works out daily despite not liking to do that.

“I’ve been so scared. When you’re 34 and you have a heart attack, that should change your life forever. The physical has to change. I definitely work out every day now — and I hate working out,” the former running back said.

White admitted that he didn’t take care of his health properly after the end of his NFL career. And he did not tell many people about the health issue. The running back had a decent career in the NFL that ended more than a decade ago.

A decent NFL career

Before going through a life changing heart attack, LenDale White had a decent career in the NFL. He joined the Tennessee Titans as a second-round pick in the 2006 NFL draft. The analysts had projected the University of South Carolina alumni to be a first-round pick. But he failed to get into better condition before the NFL Combine that year. That saw his draft stock drop a little.

Apart from the Titans, he also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. He racked up 2,349 rushing yards in his five-year career in 628 rush attempts. And on the top of that, he also scored 24 touchdowns. White retired in 2011 after a season ending injury with the Broncos in the 2010 season.
