After telling everyone who the Top 100 Players are, a question popped up: Is Lamar Jackson a truly exciting and busy quarterback? Lamar got a special prize MVP in 2019 because he played really well. He helped his team, the Baltimore Ravens, get into the playoffs for three years straight. But this year, in 2023, there’s a new list that puts all the players in the NFL in order, and Lamar’s spot isn’t very high on that list.
Some people don’t think Lamar is as good as others say. Even though he’s been playing really well with the Ravens since 2018, some lists of the best quarterbacks in the NFL don’t put him at the very top. In the 2023 list, he’s seen as the 72nd-best player. And Jackson shared a confusing message with only four words.

Probably after he saw this ranking, Lamar Jackson wrote a cryptic message that made people scratch their heads. He wrote, “I’m nice, not sweet.” He probably did this because he wanted to show that he’s good, even if others don’t always see it that way.

Back in 2020, Lamar was hailed as the absolute top player in the NFL. However, as time went on, his position slipped to 24th in 2021, and further down to 36th the year after. Despite this decline in rankings, there were individuals who continued to speak highly of him. Brenna White, who writes for NFL.com, said Lamar is super important as a player. She agreed he got the right rewards for being really, really good at playing football.
In the off-season when there are no games, Lamar Jackson signed a big contract for 5 years with the Baltimore Ravens. The contract is really huge – $260 million!

But what explains the star quarterback’s ranking this year?
Why was Lamar ranked 72 this year?
In 2022, Lamar Jackson hurt his leg and couldn’t play six games. This made it hard for him to do well in games. The leg problem happened on December 4th during a match. But he still did okay in the games he did play. He threw the ball and made 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also ran with the ball 112 times and went 764 yards, getting 3 more touchdowns.

But when you compare Lamar Jackson to other quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers and Joe Burrow, it’s clear he didn’t do as good in 2022. These other players did better, as shown by their ranks in the top 100 NFL players list.
