Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens agreed to a five-year extension, in April this year just prior to the NFL Draft. The contract was worth $260 million, with $185 million guaranteed. The deal averages out to about $52 million per season, making Jackson the highest-paid player in the NFL. It tops the previous record of $51 million set by Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

For Jackson, 26, and Baltimore, the protracted saga came to an end with this move. The Ravens gave Jackson the non-exclusive franchise tag on March 7, allowing other clubs to pursue him when the new league year began on March 15. Baltimore had the choice of releasing Jackson in return for two first-round draft picks, or they could match any offer sheet he signed with another team.
