In an episode of the Arrowhead Addict on YouTube, senior editor and FanSided’s NFL reporter Matt Verderame opened up about how he felt that Russell Wilson’s contract with the Broncos is one of the most ridiculous contracts ever given to a player in the NFL. Wilson had signed a contract worth $245 million with the Broncos, which included $161 million guaranteed and a $50 million signing bonus. He will earn a base salary of $8 million while carrying a cap value of $22 million and a dead cap value of $107 million. According to Verderame, it did not seem like a good business for the Broncos, and they dug the pit of doom for themselves.
Verderame talked about how next year is the last year before Wilson’s extension starts. If they decide to trade Wilson, they will have to pay dead money of $107 million. As the years pass by, the dead money is still a ridiculous amount for the Broncos.
