NFL has recently released their updated list of top five ‘Defensive Player of the Year’ nominees, and to everyone’s surprise, Maxx Crosby has missed securing any of those five spots. Although the names on the list do require the deserved recognition but is Crosby’s display so spotty this season to not even make it up to the top five?

NFL certainly thinks so. The list starts with Aaron Donald, a much recognized and deserved name in the list of DPOY nominees. The Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle has won the DPOY title three times in his last four seasons and still comes out to be the dominant contender in the list.

Maxx Crosby excluded from DPOY Top Five list

Following Donald, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett secures the second spot with his monumental tally of 10.5 sacks in just eight games, making him an equally strong nominee. Along with them, players like T.J. Watt, Trevon Diggs, and surprisingly Bobby Wagner have also made it up to the top five, but the name Maxx Crosby was nowhere to be seen.

It was, however, a surprise to see a player with enormous potential and remarkable stats not making it to the list of nominees. Maxx Crosby, though, has been named to PFF Midseason All-Pro Team, making the DPOY nominee list quite controversial.

And with a star player neglected from the list, his fans took to Twitter explaining how the 24-year-old DE deserves his due recognition.

Crosby, despite his commendable five sacks and 10 solo tackles in seven games, he is also showing significant improvements as a pass rusher. Not to mention his consistency every week makes him a threat to the opposing team.

The Crosby-less DPOY nominee list seems incomplete, but the NFL has left more room for other defensive players to swoop in well before the season ends. And by the look of Crosby’s performance every week, he will surely climb his way up the list and may even win the DPOY to surprise everyone once again.
