The Mike McCarthy-led Dallas Cowboys endured a tough outing in the NFL last year. The Jerry Jones-owned franchise ended their campaign with a 6-10 record and finished 3rd in their division. A large reason behind their decline was the absence of star quarterback Dak Prescott.
The former NFL Offensive Player of the Year awardee suffered a double compound fracture in the Week 5 win over rivals New York Giants.

He was ruled out for the remainder of the season as backup QB Andy Dalton stepped in. Prescott threw for 1,856 with 9 passing TDs against 4 interceptions in 5 games.
He was playing for Dallas Cowboys on a bumper $31.4 million franchise tag in 2020. His injury complicated contract negotiations with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. But finally, both parties involved have come to an amicable conclusion.

Prescott has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks since making his Cowboys debut in 2016. He has a 42-27 record in 69 starts for the Texas-based franchise.
In that period, the former Mississippi college player threw for 17,634 yards with 106 passing TDs over the course of his first 5 seasons in the NFL.
But the Cowboys faithful continue to believe that the #4 is the man to lead them back to the Super Bowl. With 4 added years to his tenure in Dallas, that might still be achievable in the near future. Only time will tell how this journey pans out, for both parties involved.
