Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys enlightened Turkey Day with their rib-tickling matchup that went on to become an overtime thriller. This was the sixth overtime game on Thanksgiving in the NFL all time. However, it was the third for the Cowboys, incidentally, they have now recorded a 0-3 score in Thanksgiving games that went to extra time.

Coincidentally, the last time these two sides met on Thanksgiving in 2013, the Cowboys pulled off a double-digit comeback, just like they did on Tuesday. However, it was the failure of the defense that led to an unfortunate overtime loss for them.

Derek Carr carrying the Las Vegas Raiders to a win

It was certainly a moment for the Raiders defense to contain the Dak Prescott side in the overtime, but the Las Vegas offense deserves even more appreciation for their phenomenal display on that day.

Much of that appreciation goes to the quarterback Derek Carr who completed 24 of 39 passes for 373 yards with one touchdown and no giveaways, even when his favorite target tight end Darren Waller got sidelined for the rest of the game due to a knee injury in the second quarter of the game.

Incidentally, Carr turned to his skillful receivers to gain enough yardage, which worked most of the time. Hunter Renfrow caught eight passes for 134 yards, and DeSean Jackson caught three passes for 102 yards. Even Zay Jones made a couple of fruitful plays as he caught five passes for 59 yards on seven targets. And so the NFL Twitter exploded at the sight of the invincible plays by Derek Carr.

Dallas Cowboys slipped off in the overtime

On the flip side, the Cowboys defense couldn’t hold up against the Raiders, allowing them 33 points in four quarters. The game saw an enormous 28 penalties, 14 committed by both sides. Dallas cornerback Anthony Brown himself recorded four penalties, including the one in the overtime that put the Raiders into a field goal position resulting in a win.

“28 penalties!!! I don’t know what the hell you want me to say.” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters after the game, per NFL Media’s Jane Slater.
