Indianapolis Colts will hope for a change of pace in the upcoming season. After winning just 4 of their 17 games of the regular season, it was an underwhelming campaign for the SB XLI winners. Following the quiet postseason, they made quick work of the offseason, drafting Anthony Richardson as the 4th overall pick in the 2023 draft.
In light of the performances of their QBs from last year where they’d scored 18 TDs between their 5 QBs. They brought in an insurance policy in Gardner Minshew to add competition for the spots. But with the latest updates circulating in the news from the Colts building, it seems they have already picked their starting QB for 2023.

The 2023 preseason is less than a week old, and teams are confirming their starting orders. Following a disappointing start to the preseason campaign for the Colts, they have announced their starting QB for the upcoming season. In a match that the Colts ultimately lost to the Bills, they saw enough to name Richardson as their starting QB for 2023.

This was later confirmed by NFL as they shared an update on Twitter confirming the decision by Colts. They’d caption the tweet with “Colts name Anthony Richardson starting QB for regular season.” Following the disappointing season from last year, and an underwhelming start to the preseason, Steichen has made his intentions clear for the QB role for the regular season in 2023.

Despite bringing in Minshew, a QB he has worked with before, Steichen named Richardson as their starting QB. This will have caused some discontent for the man that had just signed a 1-year deal in the offseason. But his words and rapport suggest he is handling it quite well with the 2023 season knocking on the door.

Many might have believed that the announcement was a gut punch to the recently signed QB, Gardner Minshew. But he has come forward to magnanimously accept the decision made by the team and his HC. Minshew would endorse the decision by Colts and provide his seal of approval when speaking to the media.
The former Eagles QB is believed to be excited for Richardson and is looking forward to the season ahead. With a blend of experience and youthful exuberance, Minshew and Richardson hold the chance of putting up a better record for the upcoming season.
