Tua Tagovailoa recently led his team to victory in the last game in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season. But in light of the roadside event with the team’s left tackle while on his way to the Dolphins training facility, he has something to say about himself.

In an official Miami Dolphins Instagram post, Tua Tagovailoa explains why he could be considered a bad teammate. His comment was especially directed at Terron Armstead because of a specific incident that happened recently. Diving into the eventful ride to Dolphins Wednesday’s training, Tagovailoa saw his team’s left tackle by the road with a broken-down car. But he reacted unexpectedly.

Tua Tagovailoa explains that he didn’t realize it was Armstead by the roadside. By the time he did, he had driven too far to come back. “I think I’m a bad teammate because I passed him and I didn’t come back,” Tua admitted in the video… But yeah, I saw him, but it was one of those things where I saw him, but I wasn’t sure it was him.”

The Miami Dolphins QB also admitted that he didn’t know what the left tackle drove. When he asked Drew Brooks, the Dolphins director of team security, if it was Terron on the side, the latter affirmed so. But Tua Tagovailoa decided to leave him behind, saying, “Well, I’m here already. I can’t go back.” The Miami Dolphins tagged Terron Armstead in the post with one word that reads “sorry” with a laughing and car emoji.

Returning to training after recuperating from his knee, back, and ankle injuries after missing the Dolphins season opener, Armstead faced an unexpected detour. What’s more, learning about his teammate driving past him without turning a head, we can only feel empathy for the returning player. Hopefully, the Pro Bowler will laugh the incident off along with his team and come to terms with a collective goal to win the upcoming game.
