Baker Mayfield went ecstatic as the Carolina Panthers thrashed the Falcons 25-15 in the NFL clash on Thursday night. The QB was not a major factor in the win, but his actions after the win became the talk of Twitter and the social media universe.

The experienced star walked onto the field and later proceeded to headbutt his teammates, one at a time. Apparently, the 27 YO QB was wearing just a hat, while all of his Panthers teammates were wearing their helmets. This made the visuals look a lot stranger. Naturally, several fans reacted to it in unison. Some embraced the gesture while many disliked it.

A fan wondered whether he was “trying to get a concussion”. Another user said even his “teammates looked confused”. Meanwhile, another fan commented, “the teammates were shocked”. Yet another user said it is the “most endearing thing he’s done this season.” A user joked, “we try to protect our players as much as humanly possible”. Consequently, fan reactions kept coming.

When Baker Mayfield returned to the city, where it all began

After losing to the Bengals 35-0 at the Paycor Stadium, coach Steve Wilks benched a struggling PK Walker. Baker Mayfield wondered whether he would get another shot to play quarterback for the Panthers. And he got it in the next game.

Earlier, Mayfield was benched after a week 5 loss to the 49ers. He returned in the game against the Browns, in the state of Ohio, where he began his career. The star QB threw an 8-yard TD pass to Tommy Tremble. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns, his first scores since a Week 4 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
