Dallas Cowboys are one of the happiest teams in the NFL with three successive wins. They answered their critics with their stunning performances on the field. The five-time NFL champions started on a negative note, surrendering 19-3 against the Buccaneers. However, since then, they regrouped well. Remarkably, Cooper Rush filled the void of starting QB Dak Prescott and has since emerged as one of the best performers this season.

Earlier, many analysts doubted if Rush can carry the team forward. As he proved them wrong, now the question is who’ll start as QB 1 when Prescott returns. According to team owner Jerry Jones, he wants a QB controversy between the two. It led many analysts, including Pat McAfee, to react to the statement. Pro Football Hall of Fame and former coach Jimmy Johnson played down the words of the Cowboys owner. He said he’ll try not to listen to anything that Jerry says.

Cooper Rush gains more support from analysts

The 79-year-old veteran football coach said he does not take Jones seriously anymore. “I would try to not listen to anything that Jerry says because he’s gonna talk on every single day. Every time, somebody walks into that building with a microphone, he’s gonna talk,” Johnson said.

Meanwhile, the HOF-er spoke about what makes Cooper Rush special. According to him, Rush knows his role, and that makes him stand out. “His role is to get the ball to the playmakers, throw to the open receiver and let your defense win the game. Don’t try to be cute, don’t try to be pretty, don’t try to make the best throw, don’t have to scramble for ten yards. But he knows his role, and that’s why they’re successful,” the experienced campaigner added.

Cooper Rush replaces starter Dak Prescott who fractured his thump in the season-opening loss to the Bucs. Since then, he set the field on fire. He went 15 of 27 for 223 yards in the last game. He also threw a pair of touchdowns. Clearly, Rush means business as the Cowboys extend their winning streak.
