Patrick Mahomes has been really busy in the offseason. Anyone would expect nothing less from a star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. But Mahomes doesn’t even let his free time go to waste. He spends his free time doing what he loves, and that is golf. The two times MVP is obsessed with golf. He has been seen numerous times on the golf court with friends and even in competitions. Mahomes has appeared in “The Match”, a golf tournament among players from other sports. His second appearance in “The Match” is due next month in June against two NBA stars.

Mahomes recently appeared in an interview with the 7 feet NBA legend, Shaquille O’Neal, to discuss his upcoming golf match on June 29. It was mainly to discuss his golf tournament, but the conversation soon diverted to Shaq’s challenge to Mahomes and his teammate.

Patrick Mahomes has yet another game to play

During the offseason, Mahomes has been practicing golf a lot with his tight-end teammate, Travis Kelce. Travis hasn’t played any official golf tournament yet. The duo is hoping to defeat the NBA athletes, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in the match next month. Mahomes is really hopeful and positive for the match, but he is rather hesitant to accept Shaq’s new challenge. During the interview, Shaq poked fun at Mahomes when the latter mentioned how he improved his jump shots.

Mahomes joked and said he would accept free throws only but isn’t really sure if he can play 2 vs 2. And Kenny Smith made fun of Shaq by calling him bigger than the entire group. Kenny referred to Shaq as a 1.5 person as he is 50% bigger than Mahomes, or Travis for that matter.

Will the challenge actually happen?

In the small clip shared by NBA on their Twitter page, Shaq is seen calling out Mahomes to the match. Shaq added that he would accept the challenge anyplace and anytime. The entire conversation turned into a laughing matter when Kenny teased Shaq about his size. And later it was never brought up again, so it is not yet certain if we will be able to see the match-up, but Mahomes claimed that he feels very confident to play a match.

Mahomes is determined to win the golf tournament next month, but the opponents are not any rookies in golf. Curry plays really well and that could be trouble for Mahomes. The two times MVP lost the previous match, so he is really looking forward to securing a victory this time.
