Two of the top rookies to arrive in Florida this summer were Lawrence and college football teammate, Travis Etienne Jr. Both these youngsters were brought in by the Jaguars as part of the 2021 NFL Draft. Etienne was selected as the 25th overall pick at the end of round 1. Coach Meyer announced that Etienne would spend the Jaguars minicamp as a wide receiver and not in his true position at running back
Prior to the start of preseason, Etienne signed his four-year rookie contract with the Jaguars, worth a reported $12.9 million. However, tragedy has struck the newbie at the very infancy of his NFL career.

Jacksonville Jaguars suffer a major setback with Travis Etienne injury
NFL insider Ian Rapoport was one of the first to reveal that the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie sustained an intensive injury. The former Clemson player took a blow to his foot in the recent game against New Orleans Saints. Travis Etienne had to exit after just three downs on the weekend. He spent the rest of the game on the sidelines, walking around with a limp.
Initial x-rays came back negative. But further scans revealed a more serious issue with the rook’s foot. His Lisfranc injury is being reported as a significant tear that will require surgery. This more or less ends his rookie season before it even started. He featured in both the running and receiving plays for the Jags during preseason.
