The New York Giants completed the extension on one of their most prized assets. Daniel Jones commanded a $160 million contract back in March to put pen to paper to extend his stay with the Giants. This has brought forward a sense of expectation from the fans and beyond from the man who is yet to fill the shoes of his predecessor.
The Giants hope Jones can finally pick up the pace with the new season just weeks away. But the controversies and stories fail to subside for the Giants QB, with the latest news putting him in the epicenter without saying a word.

Daniel Jones becomes the center of all controversies
The Giants QB has been consistent with the numbers he has put up throughout his career. Although the pressure that comes with being Eli Manning’s may have gotten to him. After being picked as the successor for the outgoing Manning back in 2019, Jones has steadily grown into his role. But the recent update has put him in a difficult place through no fault of his own.

Apart from being considered Eli Manning’s successor, his contract extension adds another layer of pressure on the QB. His contract extension bagged him a higher annual salary than the SB-winning Patrick Mahomes which raises further questions against Daniel Jones. Although Manning and the Giants fans are fully behind him and support him, they’re hoping for more from him, if not expecting it. ML Football recently came out to defend the QB on Twitter, when an analyst seemed to slate Daniel Jones.

Many consider Jones to rank in the top 5 QBs in the league or to break into the echelon someday. But the comments from his supporters and fans draw further criticism of the QB. Meanwhile, Jones may have offered a break to the Giants fans from one of his latest excursions.

Undercover Salesman offers the fans a break
Just days after the Giants’ loss to the Lions, Daniel Jones provided the fans with a much-needed respite. After the loss, Jones went undercover as a salesman at Hugo Boss in New Jersey. Despite initial hiccups as a newly recruited salesman, he’d find football fans who recognized him and chatted him up. Although the conversation would reveal that they’re fans of rival franchises, it’d not hold the QB back from talking to them.

He’d approach customers with respect and politeness as he went about his responsibilities at Hugo Boss. The clip of Jones trying to increase merch sales sat well with the fans and provided them with something to smile about. The loss may have stung the Giants but the NFL season is yet to begin.
