It’s an open spot in Tampa Bay! Tom Brady‘s retirement has left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with numerous unanswered questions and significant voids to fill. Among these, the team now faces a crucial leadership void created by the departure of the legendary quarterback. Stepping up to the plate this year is Pro Bowl left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who aims to embrace this leadership role.

In a recent development, Wirfs has joined the growing chorus of players speaking out against a decision made by the NFL, highlighting the potential impact on players’ lives and the broader football community. Interestingly, this plea mirrors the one made by both Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers in the past, which may have played a role in the divorce between Brady and Gisele Bündchen. So, what is this issue, and why is Tristan Wirfs advocating against it?

According to an update by an NFL reporter, Dov Kleiman, on his Twitter, Pro Bowl left tackle Tristan Wirfs is voicing against the NFL’s 17-game regular season implementation. He tweeted, “Update: #Buccaneers star Tristan Wirfs says the NFL needs to have extra Bye Week, via @PewterReport.” During a recent interview on the Vikes Verified podcast, Wirfs emphasized the toll that an extended regular season can have on players’ bodies and the necessity of providing them with an extra week of rest.

The NFL announced in 2021 that it would be adding an extra game to the existing 16-week schedule, with only one bye week allotted during the campaign. This decision drew criticism from notable players such as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, who highlighted the grueling nature of the sport and the challenges of staying injury-free. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the strain of the season may have played a role in Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s divorce too.

Could this have impacted their 13-year marriage?

Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen officially divorced on October 28th of last year. Following their separation, fans and the entire NFL community speculated about the reasons behind their divorce. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Gisele once expressed, “You give everything you got to achieve your dream. You give a hundred percent of yourself, and it’s heartbreaking when it doesn’t end up the way you hoped for and worked for, but you can only do your part.

For Bündchen, Brady’s demanding football career and his limited time spent at home, which may not have met her expectations, “is one piece of a much bigger puzzle.” Given the introduction of the 17-game regular season, it is plausible that this change could have had a significant impact on their careful 13-year marriage.

All in all, it remains to be seen whether these NFL players’ demands will result in a positive outcome or if the players will continue to have to sacrifice their personal space and health in the long run.
