Despite leaving the NE Patriots and going on to win a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay, Rob Gronkowski will forever remain an icon in the Boston area. Not just for the three Lombardi victories he helped Tom Brady win, but also for the warmth and care Gronk has shown over the years to the fans in Foxborough. On a mission to fix playgrounds, Gronkowski is taking part in a gruelling physical competition this month for fundraising purposes.
It’s the 2023 Boston Marathon. And it’s finally here. Gronk’s post-retirement rest had to be cut short to squeeze in the intense training regime. Rob posted a glimpse of his final early morning session on his Instagram story before the big day on April 17.

The proceeds from the campaign will go towards the construction of a playground in the Charles River Esplanade in Boston. “Building a playground was an idea that I thought of to give back to Boston. And show appreciation for the amazing support that I have received while playing in New England. Having it on the Esplanade, where the duck boats ride down the river, makes this extra special for me. We’re pumped to make this the best playground in the area, to further inspire kids to enjoy exercise and get outdoors,” Gronk addressed fans on the campaign website.
