Tom Brady is the most successful player ever. However, the start of his career wasn’t as he would have planned. Brady was the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. Like many, Brady had also lost hope of playing in the NFL until he was actually picked.

Brady’s parents always had his back, no matter what. Similarly, the QB has also been quite close to his family throughout his career. Tom Brady Sr. once got COVID and had a tough battle with it. But he overcame yet another tough battle. It was a very challenging task for Brady’s father. This was a near-death experience for him.

This instance came in September when Tom Brady was about to start his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both of Brady’s parents had Covid, and they fought their way through it. In an interview, Brady Sr. revealed the tough fight that he and his wife had to deal with.

Talking about it, Brady Sr. said, “I had pneumonia as well as COVID. They were pumping me with oxygen. [They said], ‘If your lungs don’t absorb the oxygen, then we’re going to have to put you on the ventilator.’ It was a harrowing experience,”

He added, “I had no interest whatsoever in winning or losing. I just was interested in taking the next breath.” Brady’s father was obviously happy for his son to win another Super Bowl. However, at the start of that season, games didn’t mean much to him, as his life was at stake due to COVID.

Later that season, Tom Brady became only the second quarterback in the history of the game to win Super Bowls with two different teams. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew away the Kansas City Chiefs in that year’s Super Bowl.

Brady won the 7th ring of his career and gave the ultimate gift to his father following his recovery. It was a tough fight for Brady Sr., but he fought through it and lived to see his son add another accolade to his illustrious career.
