The season hasn’t been kind for the Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady who got kicked out of playoffs for the second time after winning a Super Bowl in 2021. Spicing up the misery even more, the NFL slapped him with a fine for his reckless gameplay against the Cowboys in the wild-card matchup.

Usually, fans don’t get to see Brady getting penalized for unnecessary roughness or accused of dirty plays. However, his reckless side tackle against Malik Hooker took no time to spread like a wildfire on social media. Fans instantly demanded disciplinary action against the passer. And surprisingly, within one week, the NFL fined him $16,444 for the play.

“#Bucs QB Tom Brady was fined $16,444 for unnecessary roughness for trying to trip #Cowboys S Malik Hooker on Monday night, and C Ryan Jensen was fined $8,333.33 for unnecessary roughness on the same play.” NFL insider Ian Rapoport wrote on Twitter. Interestingly, this is the third time Brady gets fined in his career.

According to CBS reports, the Seven-time Super Bowl champions received an extra paycheck of $46,500 for making it into the wild card round. However, this fine takes away more than 35% of that chunk. Well, it doesn’t make a difference for an athlete like Tom Brady, who has amassed more than $200 million in wealth throughout his journey.

The play was more of a dramatic one, with Bills Safety Malik Hooker recovering a fumbled ball from Chris Godwin. Although Tampa Bay’s wideout Julio Jones brought him down, Brady attempted a slide tackle out of frustration and made himself look dirty on the big screen.

Anyway the Buccaneers didn’t get a win, and the quarterback had to return with a heavy heart. “Not the way we wanted to end it, but we didn’t deserve it. I give them a lot of credit, they played a good game – made a lot more plays than we did. So, tough night.” Brady said in the post-game press conference.

Fans couldn’t believe that Tom Brady actually got fined

There have been only a few instances in the past where Brady committed a dirty play. Despite ruling out the fumble call, the management held the quarterback responsible for the fine. All these series of events triggered the fans. While a few of them supported Brady, others called out the veteran.
