Rubbing off on a co-star while shooting for a movie isn’t something that is uncommon. But a non-actor rubbing off on an acclaimed actor during that process is something that will surely turn heads everywhere. That is exactly what happened at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. Tom Brady would surely be smiling watching his ’80 for Brady’ co-star throw a Cannes award just like his 2021 Lombardi trophy chucking.

It was the closing ceremony of the movie extravaganza and all the bigwigs gathered to honor the best of the best. Veteran actress Jane Fonda chose to channel her inner Brady in front of everyone. And she did it to the tee. Every NFL fan saw a glimpse of Brady from when he won his seventh Super Bowl. But what exactly did Fonda do to bring up a person into the conversation who wasn’t even near Cannes?

Jane Fonda took the stage in the Cannes closing ceremony to honor French director Justine Triet. And she did it, Tom Brady style. Triet won the prestigious Palme d’Or, which is given to the best movie at the festival. ‘The Anatomy of a Fall’ director gave her acceptance speech but forgot to take the scroll that comes with the award.

Fonda, who presented the award, tried to call her back. But then she probably thought “what would Brady do?” Before Triet could make it back, Fonda threw an inch-perfect pass, and the scroll reached its rightful owner although it hit her back first.

The veteran actress recently shared the screen with former New England Patriots QB in his first movie production ’80 for Brady’. And in that movie, Fonda along with Rita Moreno, Sally Field and Lily Tomlin, played Brady’s fans who would do anything to catch the glimpse of the historic 2017 Super Bowl. But Fonda’s actions reminded the fans of the 2021 Super Bowl and specifically its aftermath that almost got Brady in trouble.

While in celebratory mood, Brady threw the Lombardi trophy from one boat to another. The Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate caught it, calling it the best catch of his life. The incident made waves in the fans but not everyone was happy. Especially the daughter of the trophy designer, who wanted the legendary QB to apologize.

Surely nobody will ask Jane Fonda to apologize for throwing the Palme d’Or scroll. It would have been a completion if the receiver was looking. But whatever happened, Brady will surely be smiling watching this and thinking that he has passed on some of the passing skills to someone like Fonda.
