Naturalist Charles Darwin’s famous theory of natural selection states that only the fittest survive and this phenomenon applies everywhere, be it excelling in sports or living a successful life. The former Giants quarterback Eli Manning had one of the most successful careers in the NFL. And his biggest achievement was taking down the GOAT, Tom Brady twice in their Super Bowl appearances.
In fact, Manning is the only passer to have handed a Super Bowl loss to Brady twice in his career. However, in the final stages of his journey, while Manning struggled to live up to the expectations, the Giants chose to go with alternate options for the starting positions. They wanted to try Geno Smith and Rookie Davis Webb in the remaining games. The Giants were 2-9 at that point in 2017.
It was indeed an unfortunate moment for the quarterback to assimilate. That’s when Brady extended support with his kind words. “Obviously, being on the other side of two of those Super Bowl losses to an Eli Manning-led team, I just have so much respect for his dependability, for his consistency, for his toughness,” Brady said in an interview.
“You know that’s really everything you want in an NFL player, and I think Eli has always provided that for the team. So I think it’s a pretty unfortunate situation,” the GOAT added to his explanation. While Manning was worried about bidding goodbye to the league, the Buccaneers quarterback is now going through a similar situation.
