In 2020, the NFL GOAT became a free agent. Eventually, the Tom Brady to San Francisco rumors went all over the place. It was a lip-smacking match, as the quarterback was born in San Mateo, California. Even Kyle Shanahan was on board. But the 49ers stuck with someone who served as Brady’s backup instead. Michael Lombardi detailed the notion of how resistance did not allow TB12 to join his hometown team.
Lombardi mentioned, “Only a few can evaluate the quarterback and only fewer can coach him. Kyle [Shanahan] is one of those few and so is his father. He goes back and now he’s got resistance within his own building. Remember, a year earlier? Kyle wanted to sign Tom Brady, and the resistance factor within the building said ‘No, no, we’re not doing that.’”

Michael Lombardi also said that Kyle Shanahan was infatuated with Mac Jones after watching his tape. He wanted to trade for the quarterback after the TB12 debacle. But, once again, he was tired of the concept.
To make it happen, Brady even contacted his former teammate, Wes Welker, who was with the organization as the WR coach. Brady told Welker that he’d join with the 49ers if they desired.
Another top franchise was in contention for Tom Brady?
Tom Brady’s 2020 free agency period saw big names coming afloat to get him on the team. One of them was the Las Vegas Raiders. Dana White stated TB12 negotiated a deal in 2020 to bring him and Rob Gronkowski to the team. However, the agreement was called off by then-Raiders coach Jon Gruden.

But recently, Tom Brady pushed back on all of Dana White’s claims. As per Bleacher Report, TB12 remarked that he read these various narratives concerning all the countless locations he was scheduled to visit or would have gone to. But he had only one destination in mind: Tampa Bay. This one statement can now put the UFC President’s claims to rest.
