Tom Brady, Peyton Manning Rivalry Trashed Against New-Age Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen Bout: ‘More Athleticism And Big Plays’

For the past couple of years, the rivalry between the Chiefs and the Bills has been the fan’s favorite. Especially, fans and experts have always looked forward to seeing the match-up between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Right now, many pundits are comparing this rivalry to the legendary rivalry between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

This Sunday, the Bills beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in a really close game. This game brought back the rivalry comparison once again, as the host of ‘The Herd’, Colin Cowherd opened up about this Mahomes-Allen rivalry.

During his show, ‘The Herd’, while talking about the rivalry, Cowherd said, “It’s Manning and Brady with more athleticism and big plays.” He adds, “I don’t feel anybody’s got an edge… the last five games are all getting closer… this is what a rivalry looks like, when you don’t feel like one’s got a better coach or one’s got better personnel or one is favorite… And what I love about this rivalry, the underdog in it is kind of viewed as Buffalo.”

He also praised Allen’s incredible performances during these match-ups and felt the Bills have overall a better squad than the Chiefs. However, he thinks Kansas is going to make a big move before the trade deadline to challenge the Bills.

Meanwhile, Brady and Manning‘s feud has been arguably one of the best QB rivalries in the history of the NFL. In early 2000, their rivalry started, which lasted more than a decade as Manning was playing for the Colts and Brady was playing for the Patriots. In terms of Super Bowl championships, Brady has won 7 of them and Manning won 2.

Mahomes opens up about the comparison with Brady and Manning

In a recent interview, Mahomes said, “Brady and Manning didn’t become [them] until the latter part of their careers because they’d already won so much championships and MVPs and stuff like that. I think you can ask Josh [Allen] the same thing. We see that we could be there, but we still have a long way to go to put ourselves on that pedestal.”

Although Mahomes doesn’t like the comparison, many fans and experts are currently talking about his rivalry with Allen. Last year, the Chiefs beat the Bills in the Division Round playoff game. Almost 9 months later, the Bills got revenge, as they beat the Chiefs in their own backyard. So far, they are battling for the top position in the AFC division, as we could see them facing each other once again this season, possibly in the playoffs.
