The New England Patriots said goodbye to their homegrown legend Tom Brady earlier this year. The six-time NFL MVP award winner decided to take up a challenge with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady is joined by Pats teammate Rob Gronkowski in Florida this year.
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers opted against extending Cam Newton’s contract in 2020. They brought in Teddy Bridgewater to replace him. Bill Belichick took a gamble by bringing in Newton on a one year deal. Additionally, Newton has been dealing with foot and shoulder injuries since 2019.
Both these veterans are on a mission to ‘ stage a comeback’ this season. Who will succeed and who will go down in shambles? Here’s what some of these NFL experts had to say on the topic.

New season, new adventures for Tom Brady and Cam Newton
Tom Brady gets the nod over Newton from Steven Smith and Booger McFarland in this recent segment of ESPN First Take. Both these experts argued that Brady will be surrounded by deadlier ‘weapons’ at Tampa Bay as compared to Newton in New England. Obviously, by weapons they meant players and indeed, they have a point.
Without a doubt, Brady is the more fortunate of the pair. He will be joined by the likes of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Cameron Brate, and OJ Howard in Florida. The acquisition of running back LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy will add to that list of weaponry at Brady’s disposal. Head coach Bruce Arians turned the Bucs into a formidable offense machine last year. Can he do the same this season with TB12 as his shot-caller?

However, NFL expert Max Kellerman opted to go with the controversial Cam Newton over ‘Tampa’ Brady. Newton won’t have players like Evans and others at his disposal. But he does have some proven talents in the form of Julian Edelman, Marqise Lee, and Mohammad Sanu. In addition to that, a coach like Bill Belichick calling the play can certainly play in Newton’s favor. If he manages to stay fit, Cam could give 43-year old Brady a run for his money at the end of the season.
