The Buccaneers are bringing back the vintage combo. The fan-favorite and iconic creamsicle jerseys are about to be rocked by the squad, who will wear them for one game this season. In Week 6 against the Lions on October  15. The return is brought following fans’ passionate demands to see the Buccaneers on the field donning the orange goodness they call  ”creamsicle” fits. However, why did the team come out so late with new threads is still a question because the legend missed it!

“The return of our beloved Creamsicle uniforms for this special game is something that our fans have been passionate about for many years, and we are excited to celebrate the history of our franchise with a unique, dedicated Creamsicle gameday experience,” the team’s chief operating officer, Brian Ford, said in a statement. While the return of the iconic fit is exciting news for the fans they can’t help but be bummed that the NFL legend won’t get to flex that swag.

The fans are understandably riled up that Tom Brady, who retired just months ago, missed out on the vintage gear. However, in defense of the team, Buccaneers, in fact, decided to bring the retro look back in 2022. Unfortunately, the decision had to be pushed to 2023 due to global supply challenges.

The Buccaneers were originally sported in the Creamsicle uniforms from 1976 to 1996, but they ditched them in 1997 after opting for a different color scheme. However, they flaunted the iconic look on special occasions starting in 2009. The Bucs wore the creamsicle jerseys annually until 2012 but then had to drop the plan after the NFL implemented its one-helmet rule in 2013. The rule insisted that teams should stick to one helmet set during the entire season.

After switching to pewter-colored helmets, they could not wear the white helmets which did not go with the creamsicle look. However, as the NFL phased out its one-helmet rule in June 2021, the throwback jerseys are returning to the gridiron after a very long time.

He wore those in practice all 3 seasons here, but yeah it’s a tragedy that we never got to see him in the actual creamsicles, another user nodded.
