Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through a series of adversities. The team has lost some key players in major roles. Even the offense, which has maintained its major components, is struggling beyond any expectation. The Bucs are off to a losing record. Currently, they are second in the division. Injuries have plagued the squad, on both ends of the field. While the offense lost its parts early in the season, it is now the defence which is falling away. To make matters worse, star pass-rusher Shaq Barrett is now sidelined for an extended period as well.

The Buccaneers faced the Ravens this Thursday to start the 8th Week of the NFL. While they could not manage an upset, things go from bad to worse for them. Their star pass-rusher Shaq Barrett went down with an ankle injury early in the third quarter. They helped the player off the field who was visibly in discomfort. Barrett did not return for any further action and remained with the medical staff. Now, according to the latest reports, he might have torn his Achilles.

New head coach, Todd Bowles, issued the update on the player’s injury in the post-game press conference. The player suffered from an Achilles injury, though it is not confirmed yet. He will undergo an MRI on Friday to further assess the damage. On the injury itself, Bowles said, “It doesn’t look good”.

A nightmare for Tom Brady

The 45-year-old quarterback might be living his worst nightmare. In comparison to his previous seasons, this is the worst start he has had since 2002. And while the offense can not figure out how to score points, he would be greatly aggrieved by the loss of such an important defensive player as well.

The only time Brady had a losing record after 8 Weeks of the NFL was back in 2002. The player came out of retirement to pursue another championship with the team. On the contrary, this has been a forgettable season up until now.

The Buccaneers fell to the Ravens with a score of 27-22. With a 3-5 record, there is much work to be done. But fortunately for them, the NFC South is still not beyond them. If they can find a way to manage their affairs on the field, a playoff berth could still be waiting for them.
