Tom Brady just officially announced his retirement from the NFL. This is his second retirement after the one last year that ended up reversed in a few days. And while some loyal Brady supporters are numb from the retirement news, a few could not resist the Gisele jokes on Twitter.

Brady and the Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen ended a 13-year marriage last October. The former power couple’s problems started when Brady came back from retirement. And fans were bound to bring her up as the seven-time Super Bowl champion hangs up his cleats for good.

Those who expect their GOAT to return 40 days later this time may have a hard time dealing with the truth, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-caller clarified that this is it. He even jokingly brought up last February’s shenanigans as an awful example in an otherwise emotionally charged farewell video on Twitter.

I’m retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. When I woke up this morning, I figured I’ll just press record and let you guys know first. So won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay. And I used mine up last year,” Brady said in his goodbye.

Brady had come back from retirement last year, thinking his position was still on the field. And fans were sure to bring it up after today’s shocking, yet foreseeable announcement.

Fans ripped into the Brady-Gisele story

Tom Brady just couldn’t have the fairy tale ending he so dearly wanted. This even cost him his marriage to Gisele. Brady took an 11-day break from his preseason training with the Buccaneers. And despite dragging the Bucs to the playoffs with a losing 8-9 record, Brady seemed to be reeling from his personal strifes throughout the season.

And some of the social media shots were indeed hilarious.

Some fans still hope for a return. But most were of the opinion that Brady should have stuck to his retirement from last year and saved his marriage. Despite ranking third in passing yards and setting an NFL record for completion on attempts this season, it’s safe to say that TB12 didn’t have the best season.
