The homecoming turned bittersweet for Tom Brady as the San Francisco 49ers toyed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. Brady had his whole family up in the stand to watch the game. After the defeat, he was so shell-shocked that he almost forgot to check up on them. And when the QB did meet his family, his parents were absent from the scene.

The Niners put up a show at Levi’s Stadium and won the game 35-7.

Tom Brady forgot his family

Tom Brady went to San Francisco to take on the Niners. But more than that, he went there to catch up with his parents and friends from childhood. A native of San Mateo in California, it was just the second time that Brady played in the stadium of his boyhood franchise, the Niners.

But after the game turned into a debacle, he almost forgot his family was present there. Speaking on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, Brady said that a lady walking with him to the team bus reminded him of his family.

“We got our a*s kicked, and I was walking from the locker room to the bus, a kind of long walk of 500 yards or so, and just as I got to the bus the woman who I was with said, ‘Hey, didn’t you want to see your family?’” Brady said

Brady couldn’t believe that his family stayed even after a complete horror show put up by his team. “They stayed?” Brady asked her.

He then turned around and met up with his family members including his sisters, nieces and some cousins. But his parents had left the Stadium in the third quarter itself.

A humiliating defeat

Tom Brady was skeptical about his family staying back after the game against the Niners. Although he felt ashamed to have almost forgotten about them, that did not happen without cause. The game was such a debacle for the Buccaneers that most of the fans in the Stadium left early. After a point, even FOX Sports stopped telecasting the game in some parts of the country, switching to the Carolina Panthers clash with the Seattle Seahawks.

Brady threw two interceptions in the game. That is one less than what he had thrown for 12 games up to that point. And his opposing QB was Brock Purdy, a rookie last-rounder who was making his starting debut in the league.
