It was an overwhelming moment for the WNBA draftee to receive a call from the GOAT himself. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady personally congratulated the 21-year-old for her success.

The former Northwestern star Veronica Burton got a deal with the Dallas wings on Monday. she was selected seventh overall by the Dallas Wings during Monday night’s WNBA draft. However, that wasn’t the only surprise she received.

Veronica Burton’s father, Steve Burton played a prominent role in Brady’s life. For the sake of extending his affection for the Burton family, Brady made a sweet phone call. “Hey, Veronica, what’s up? I just wanted to congratulate you on being drafted,” Brady said on the call, which Burton (Veronica’s sister) posted on her Twitter account.

“The four-time Big Ten steals leader, I know you’re a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, an All-American, and now you’re in the WNBA. Congrats to you. I know the Burton family very well. I’ve known your dad for a long time, your brother [Austin]. Just know that I’m always cheering you from afar and I wish you the best of luck.” Indeed, it was an incredible achievement for the 21-year-old player to get a WNBA draft.

Hailing from a sports family, she had a fondness for basketball from a very young age. She was born on 12th July 2000 in Newton, Massachusetts. She was successful in leading the Big Ten in steals for four years and became a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award for the best point guard in the country.

Her brother, Austin, happens to be a signal-caller for Purdue and seems to know the Buccaneers QB personally.
