Tom Brady has been around in the NFL for a significant amount of time now; 23 seasons, to be precise. And the widely considered G.O.A.T. has seen a lineup of greats come and go. However, Tom always led with confidence and elegance. But at 45, Tampa Tom isn’t so sure anymore. Especially about the supremely talented batch of new quarterbacks in the league.

Brady had some multi-generational talents over on his latest episode of the Let’s Go Podcast. Tom’s childhood idol and San Francisco 49ers legend, Steve Young, joined. And Steve’s idol and former Cowboys QB Roger Staubach graced the podcast as well. The topic of discussion was longevity. Specifically, Brady’s. But Tom shared some of his concerns.

When Tom Brady came into the league as the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL draft, most of his present-day competitions were still in their infancy. However, the talent has arrived, and it’s undeniable. Kansas City Chiefs got a generational talent in 2017 in the form of Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes reached 5000 passing yards and was an NFL MVP in his first year as a starter. And in three years, he got the Super Bowl to Kansas after a fifty-year drought.

Mahomes recently matched Brady’s two-time feat of passing over 5000 yards in a season. And he did this in 2022 without a dependable wide receiver. TB12 is confident about taking on the veterans of the league. However, he cannot ignore the technique and arm strength of the modern quarterback. When Roger Staubach said that he can throw better than other 80-year-olds, Brady had a humble response.

I know I can out-throw most 45-year-olds. I’m certain of that. The 25-year-olds, not so much,” the former New England Patriots QB said.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers met Mahomes and the Chiefs in a much-waited past versus present matchup at Super Bowl LV. And Tom Terrific came out on top in dominant fashion. The Buccaneers won 31-9 to bring the seventh ring on Brady’s fingers. TB12 had a flawless 3 touchdowns, and 0 interception game.

However, it’s not the throwing that concerns Brady the most. “Throwing has not been the problem. But it’s the so many different changes to the game the last bunch of years. The last I think 10-12 years,” Tom Brady told the veterans of the sport about adjusting to the developing game.

Besides, it’s not just the Chiefs QB that Tom has to worry about. There are Bills QB Josh Allen, Cool Joe Burrow from Cincinnati, and Philly’s Jalen Hurts. And TB12’s true grit will be tested come next week’s playoff action.
