NFL GOAT Tom Brady is not new to controversies. However, he was caught in the eye of a storm in his latest appearance on the ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast. The future HOF-er compared the toil of playing an NFL season to “going away on deployment in the military”. Tom Terrific’s remarks did not impress the fans and the army veterans.

Meanwhile, some of the family members asked TB12 to show more concern. The 45-year-old made these remarks as he discussed the balance between his career and life. “I almost look at a football season like I’m going away on deployment for the military. And it’s like: ‘Man, here I go again,” he said.
The military deployment remark revealed TB12’s approach to NFL, as in how he takes it. However, the military community corrected Brady. They said it is wrong to compare a sport with national duty.
A user explained why the comparison was unjust.
Tom Brady thinks playing football is like going on military deployment.
We both wear a uniform, and our marriages/relationships can be strained, but the similarities end there.
He plays a game to entertain people. We risk our lives to defend this country.

This user said TB12 should have stayed in retirement.
Tom Brady should have stayed in retirement, and he showed his true colors again last weekend by once again publicly berating his teammates while to cover for his less than average play.

This user had some critical remarks against Brady.
As a 2 time OEF Army veteran, I have to ask @TomBrady, is he fucking for real?
— David Weissman (@davidmweissman) October 19, 2022
The daughter of the Vietnam war veteran too echoed the same feeling.
Tom Brady should be ashamed! Comparing football to deployment 🤬 as a daughter of a Vietnam War Veteran and wife of a Veteran, it's not FOOTBALL! He is a egotistical spoiled brat 🙄 God bless our Troops, veterans!!
— Rhonda (@Rhondarhoo22) October 19, 2022
Meanwhile, this user also expressed his frustration.
Tom Brady, please tell us more how being paid millions of dollars in Tampa to play football is like being in the military, or being deployed? I expect you don't have a relevant answer to give active duty soldiers, and veterans there @TomBrady. Feel free to shut your suck.🙄🖕🏾🤡 https://t.co/xPAdPIZwC0

Tom Brady receives flak for remarks
Several war veterans and NFL users said the QB does not know the life of a military man. They said Brady must learn to respect the profession. Many users asked TB12 not to take undue comparisons, at least in the future. Meanwhile, non-active followers of the game too joined on Twitter after the statement went viral.
This user explained why TB12’s statement is an insult to the military.
Dear @TomBrady my husband deployed & came home in a coffin. can’t take back your idiotic statement but you SHOULD support Families of the Fallen & Veterans. donate some of that fox sports money. #tombrady #tombradymilitary @FOXSports @NFL @nflnetwork @Buccaneers @TMZ_Sports

A user said Brady’s comments are not in good taste.
Tom Brady comparing playing football to being deployed in the Army does not sit right with me. I’m sorry but passing a football once a week is nothing compared to being in war and seeing people you love die in front of you. Like that really just made me mad
— Whit V (@Whit_Bayyb) October 18, 2022
However, this user explained the hard reality.
🤦🏼♀️😬 CRINGE…20 years of service my husband did in the army as a bomb tech. YOU ARE getting paid millions to play a game. PTSD/veteran suicide is so high among our vets. There is no comparison here. I hardly think you have a leg to stand on. Some actually don’t have their legs…

This user said Tom Brady is ignorant.
@Johnny_Joey I was an Army wife for 25 years, now retired ,@TomBrady has NO IDEA WHAT & HOW the military & their spouses, children go through! To compare it to football shows how ignorant he is. Shame on him & his ilk

It is highly likely that Tom Brady will soon clarify the remarks and issue an apology. The NFL titan has a past where he has made amends. However, an apology is due, believes the fans. This is because he seemed to have hurt the emotions of many people.

Why some comparisons are controversial in sport
In sports, comparing one sport with the other makes sense. It brings in several dimensions of each sport. However, it is not the case with professions such as the military or teaching. This is because they are unrelated to each other, and the responsibilities are extremely different.
