It has been a rather unfortunate year for seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. In his 23rd year with the league, the Buccaneers’ quarterback looks far from what he was a couple of seasons ago. If his subpar performance on the field wasn’t already enough, Brady has been dealing with issues in his personal life as well.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen announced the finalization of their divorce on October 28, via social media. The announcement came after months of speculation from the NFL world. With the dust barely settling over the quarterback’s divorce, the quarterback is now facing another issue.

Tom Brady and Gisele’s association with FTX

In 2021, Brady and his then-wife Gisele Bündchen became prominent faces of the cryptocurrency exchange, FTX, after closing in on an equity deal with FTX.com and FTX.US. With Binance set to acquire FTX for pennies on the dollar, it looks like the former couple’s investment’s worth will significantly drop. In light of the FTX drama, a commercial featuring Brady and Bündchen resurfaced. From the looks of it, the dialogue in the commercial did not age well.

Airing in late 2021, the commercial opens with Bündchen saying, “Can I talk to you about something?” to Brady. The QB responds, “Yeah, we talked about it. I’ve got another ten years left, maybe fifteen.” An exasperated Bündchen says that she wasn’t referring to what Brady was saying and proceeds to show him something on her phone.

Was Tom Brady alluding to his time in the league? It definitely looks that way. The Bucs quarterback’s relationship reportedly went downhill after he announced his retirement from the game. His short-lived retirement was supposedly due to his desire to focus on his family. Looking back, Brady’s line in the advertisement definitely did not age well.

Brady and Bündchen aren’t the only ones affected by FTX’s downfall. NBA star Steph Curry, the NBA team Miami Heat, alongside several MLB teams, have also partnered with FTX.
