It was a betrayal for many who believed the 44-year-old, who advocated his longevity all year long, would stay till his 50s. The news was first broken by the ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, who reported, “Tom Brady is retiring from football after 22 extraordinary seasons, multiple sources tell @JeffDarlington and me. More coming on ESPN.com.”
Brady’s agent opens up on the quarterback’s retirement plans
Elite athletes like Patrick Mahomes and Julian Edelman also tuned in to bid the GOAT goodbye. However, a few moments later, it was revealed that Tom Brady is not even close to calling a retirement. Sports reporter Kylen Mills reported, “Tom Brady Sr. tells KRON4 News, that his son wasn’t retiring. Brady Sr. says an online publication started circulating an unsubstantiated rumor. However, a number of NFL insiders are now reporting it.”

With that news, the whole internet regained its calm. However, a new trend set foot in which the netizens started to troll Adam Schefter to break the news inaccurately. The note read, “I understand the advance speculation about Tom’s future. Without getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what’s being reported, Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy. He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon.”
