Tom Brady is undoubtedly the most celebrated QB in NFL history. Referred to as the GOAT of the game, the retired 45-year-old QB holds 7 Super Bowl championships under his belt, a feat that is to be beaten by QBs of the future. And hence, it is without question that collectibles and memorabilia from Tom Brady’s QB excellence era on the field will hold a lot of value for collectors and Brady aficionados.
But despite the hype around TB12 collectibles, time plays a crucial factor in the value that these collectibles and cards hold. And Brady aficionados lost a lot of value in a collectible during a recent auction. A loss that is around $300,000 because of one factor, and that is holding onto it for too long.

It was initially at Goldin for $690K on 12th December 2022. And after being held on for 79 days with a loss of around $2785 per day, it was again sold in January 2023 for $570k. But it continued to decline in its worth because of time, as it now recently sold for as low as $396K after being held for 119 days at a loss of $1,462 per day.
One might be wondering why is it such a matter of concern for Brady aficionados. Well, it is because this card is the second most valuable football card of all time.

The second-most valuable football card
The 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Tom Brady Autograph Rookie Card #144 is limited to only 100 copies in the world. It sits in second behind Patrick Mahomes’ 2017 National Treasures NFL Shield Autographed Rookie Card, which sold for a whopping $4.3 million. This Tom Brady card went for around $3 million back in 2021 in an auction held by Leland Auctions. That particular card has a BGS 9 for its good condition and BGS 10 for the GOAT’s autograph. Hence, seeing the same lineage card for such a low price is definitely a shocker for card collectors.
