Colin Kaepernick was once a great QB in the league. Drafted in 2011 by the San Francisco 49ers, he played for six seasons in the NFL. During this time, he also led the 49ers to the finals of the Super Bowl LVII against the Baltimore Ravens, unfortunately losing 34-31. And then, in 2016, his career came to an end after his controversial episode of kneeling during the national anthem to protest against police brutality and racial discrimination in the country.

Today, it’s been almost seven years since Kaepernick’s last appearance in the NFL. He has gone on to live a life as a civil rights activist in the country. And in a recent interview, he opened up about looking back at his life and maybe changing his fate in some way.

Life after the NFL for Kaepernick

After his NFL career came to an unprecedented end, Kaepernick started working for the marginalized and discriminated community of the country. He released his graphic novel called ‘Change the Game’, which talks about how he’s been facing racism throughout his life. He also called out his parents for internalizing racism in his teenage days. This brought in a lot of criticism from other sports personalities for calling out his parents like that. He also went on to compare the NFL to slavery in his Netflix series ‘Colin in Black & White’, talking about the way players are treated during the NFL combine. Apart from this he also recently started a movement against Florida’s ‘Stop W.O.K.E Act’, which prohibits certain civil unrest topics from being discussed in schools.
