It has been an offseason of change for the New York Jets. With the 2023 drafts inching closer, the team has been aggressively moving ahead with the trade window period. The Jets are bolstering and expanding their offensive arsenal, with a few notable singings in the making. But the highlight for them and the NFL world has been the ongoing trade talks for Green Pay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers.

While A-Rod has been clear about his intentions to play at MetLife Stadium, there has been a standoff in terms of the negotiations. The Packers are already moving on with their QB for the next season, Jordan Love. This makes the situation an even more interesting saga for fans in the NFL world as Rodger’s standing remains in limbo. Amidst all the talks going around A-Rod, the Jets are looking to make another signing. Surprisingly for fans eagerly waiting for Rodger’s arrival, the team has another QB in its sights.

Ever since Nathaniel Hackett took up his role as the offensive coordinator for the Jets, the team has been signing players who are familiar with his system. Earlier, the Jets also signed Packers WR Allen Lazard to a four-year deal worth $44 million. Lazard also spent three years under the watchful eyes of Hackett during his days at Green Bay. Now, the Jets are also signing veteran QB Tim Boyle, who spent some time playing under Hackett’s team at Green Bay.

According to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo, the Jets are signing Tim Boyle to a 1-year deal with the team. The signing will reunite him with Hackett once again, as the Jets continue to restructure their roster ahead of the 2023 season. Boyle was signed as a backup by the Detroit Lions in 2021. He was then acquired by the Chicago Bears, going 2 of 8 for 33 yards.

Bringing in Tim Boyle means bringing in a signal-caller who is familiar with Hackett’s schemes. It also means bringing in another player who is familiar with A-Rod’s play style. So could Boyle be there to assist Rodgers and not replace him? Meanwhile, the Rodgers’ deal continues to drag with no end in sight.

It is now 22 days since the four-time MVP announced at the Pat McAfee Show his desire to be a QB for the Jets. Initially, the Packers wanted a first-round no.13 overall pick for Rodgers. And if the veteran QB continued to play another year, they wanted another pick in 2025. But the Packers suddenly changed their decision of wanting a no.13 overall pick, putting all the developments in the trade on hold once again. This brought the whole situation back to square one. While the Jets are in favor of signing A-Rod to the roster, the long hold-off is a matter of concern for both teams.

Even if Rodgers signs with the Jets, this won’t be smooth sailing for the veteran QB. He will face tough competition from Zach Wilson for the QB1 spot in the team. Apart from this, the competition in the AFC division is high-end. And Rodgers will have to be at the top of his game in order to survive the competition in the AFC. As the Jets continue to build a Hackett-friendly team, fans will have to wait patiently for a conclusive decision regarding A-Rod. Could Boyle be there to assist Rodgers at the Jets and help in the development of young Zach Wilson? Or does this mean that Rodgers Jets’ ambition will remain a dream? What do you think?
