Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady flirted with the possibility of retiring from the game in his 40s. But players like Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott were close admirers of Brady for being a one-of-a-kind player due to his longevity in the NFL. The Cowboys’ QB doubted his own ability to enjoy such a long career himself in 2019.

Before the Week 11 outing against the New England Patriots, Prescott shared his thoughts about the then-Patriots QB. He states, “I live in and now, and I live in the moment. Honestly, I don’t know, but I can’t see myself being 40 and doing that, but who knows…To do what he’s done at such a high level for a long time. I know the discipline that it takes – week in and week out. To be doing this for what? 20 years?

While the Cowboys QB had just entered the league, he was bringing up the level of consistency of the then-Patriots QB. He conceded he was just starting up and focussing on his game rather than chasing Brady’s stunning records. While Prescott was quick to shut down any comparisons with Brady, he admits to looking forward to meeting a player he considers to be the GOAT.

The decision from the Buccaneers QB to unretire was dramatic for some NFL fans and left them perplexed. Brady admits his appetite to return for one final season drove him to unretire in March. Following a disappointing end to the 2021 NFL campaign, Brady was reportedly looking to settle an unfinished business in 2022.

He will play in his 23rd NFL campaign in the upcoming season while chasing the 8th Super Bowl ring of his career. The 2022 NFL season could prove to be possibly the final time fans might see Brady taking the field as an NFL quarterback.
