The San Francisco 49ers have made their choice clear, with Brock Purdy and Trey Lance filling the first two starting quarterback spots for next season, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. However, it’s unfair to call Jimmy’s six years playing at home at the prestigious Levi’s Stadium completely fruitless.

Jimmy G holds a respectable 5-2 playoff record, having reached the Super Bowl once and the Conference Championship twice, winning it in 2020. But the Niners gave up way too much to get Trey Lance. And after Jimmy’s season-ending foot injury last season, Mr Relevant, Brock Purdy, cemented his place in the starting lineup, taking them to the NFC title game.

According to the reports from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Carolina Panthers, and the Houston Texans lead the race for Jimmy G. The Texans have the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft with multiple top-drawer options. So it’s more between the Raiders and the Panthers.

What is the best fit for Jimmy after 6 years in San Francisco?

The Raiders parted ways with Derek Carr last month, and the Panthers wanted Carr for next season. However, he has chosen the New Orleans Saints. And Las Vegas and Carolina still need the spot filled.

Garoppolo was already down to play if the Niners made it to the Super Bowl this year. And so his injury concerns are clearly behind him. In the eleven games he played last season, Jimmy had a seventy per cent win rate and threw only 4 interceptions, scoring 16 touchdowns in his 2437 passing yards. And some of the franchises can really turn their fortunes around with him at the center.

And Jimmy definitely won’t mind staying in the NFC as compared to going to the quarterback-infested AFC options.
