Recently, the Cincinnati Bengals and their RB, Joe Mixon, reached an agreement to restructure his contract. This was a critical move for Mixon, who is in his sixth NFL season and will turn 27 this month. Mixon had signed a four-year, $48 million extension with the Bengals in September 2020, which runs through 2024. But his performance has declined since then, and his future with the team was uncertain.
The Bengals’ director of player personnel, Duke Tobin, and executive vice president, Katie Blackburn, did not commit to keeping Mixon for 2023 after the season ended. But the Bengals’ head coach, Zac Taylor, showed his confidence in Mixon in a post-draft press conference. Now, Mixon agreeing to a $3.4 million pay cut demonstrates his determination, much like Joe Burrow?

“Joe just agreed to a restructuring of his deal,” Joe Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer stated. “His goal is to win a Super Bowl and play his career in Cincinnati and this is the best way to accomplish these goals.”
This $3.4 million pay cut demonstrates that Joe Mixon is following in the footsteps of Joe Burrow. Recently, the team has experienced financial success thanks to the positive impact of Joe Burrow.

Joe Burrow, no doubt, has emerged as one of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL. He is still playing under his rookie contract, which he signed in 2020 after being drafted first overall by the Bengals. The deal was for four years and $36.1 million, with a $23.9 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option.
