The Orenthal James Simpson court trial spanned eleven months, from November 9, 1994, to October 3, 1995, marking 28 years since its occurrence. During the trial, OJ was accused of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in Brentwood, CA. Despite the high-profile case, OJ, an NFL veteran footballer with a net worth of $10.8 million at the time, was ultimately acquitted of the charges.
While he escaped a civil lawsuit for Nicole’s death, OJ was held accountable in the Ron Goldman civil case. The court ordered him to compensate the Goldman family with $33.5 million for their loss. Over the years, this amount has grown to over $40 million, including interest. Reports indicate that around $500,000 was initially paid to the Goldman family from OJ’s assets before they were seized and auctioned off.

OJ Simpson selling memories
At the age of 76, OJ’s net worth in 2023 stands at $3 million. The old man receives a monthly pension of $25,000 from the NFL to support his living expenses. If any additional earnings OJ makes, outside of his pension, are directed towards settling the outstanding $40 million debt to the Goldman family.
Notably, the things OJ still owned were taken away and sold to help the people who were suing him get back the money they spent on the legal process. However, the Goldman family claims that they have collected less than one percent of the owed amount of $40 million due to lawyers’ fees and debts.

At that time, OJ had to sell rights to books, videos, autographs, and memorabilia, which contributed to his earnings. His Heisman Trophy was also sold for $255,500 (some sources suggest $500,000) to an undisclosed buyer.
Luckily for OJ, the money he gets every month from his pension (which is $25,000) can’t be taken away by the Goldman family because of the law. Nonetheless, there have been recent reports stating that Simpson experienced a heart attack, but he is refuting these claims made by the media.
