Recently, the 3 times Super Bowl Champion Julian Edelman was on Wendy’s roast list and made the headlines. However, he has done it again with America’s staple, Joey Chestnut. And only the Jaws can be called the “GOAT” of the annual Fourth of July tradition.

Joey Chestnut defended his title on Tuesday afternoon, and oh, what a fight it was! This time, it was even more interesting as it was against the ex-Patriots WR Edelmann. What was interesting to watch for all Americans was the jabs that came in later.

Joey Chestnut is, like, a total legend in the world of competitive eating. He’s also become a straight-up American tradition every single 4th of July. And yes, it’s about the mega-famous Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest that goes down at Coney Island like clockwork. Millions of Americans tune in to catch Joey Chestnut in action, chowing down on those dogs. It’s now as much a part of the 4th of July as fireworks and backyard barbecues.

And this year, in the Summer of 2023, viewers were all hyped up, waiting to see if Chestnut could break his own freakin’ world record again. It was off the charts! He scarfed down a mind-blowing 62 frankfurters in 10 minutes, clinching his 16th victory in the men’s division.  On this, he shared, “They told us it was canceled. We weren’t sure we were gonna eat today. I’m just happy. It’s the 4th of July. I got to eat some hot dogs and get a win.” Talk about a force to be reckoned with. But here’s the kicker: Mother Nature decided to throw a wrench in the works.

What’s more? As many fans felt patriotic, it grabbed media attention, ex-New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman. He had shared a photo captioned, “Gotta play hurt #dog” of Chestnut arriving at the event on crutches. He praised the competitive eater for his courage and determination to push through the pain caused by the injury. Later, after losing at the Hot dog event, he captioned a picture of himself with the hotdogs stating, “364 more days until next year’s hot dog eating contest. I’ve got to toughen up. #Happy4th 🇺🇸 🌭.” Fans might just see good competition to the Jaws next year.

After mega fast-food chain Wendy’s savagely roasted Edel-nut this February, let’s hope he doesn’t give them material next year with this ‘sacred American tradition’.

The Generic Slot Receiver: Irrelevant Without Tom Brady

It’s pretty incredible that ‘Minitron’ Edelman, the former New England Patriots receiver, has a good sense of humor because he received a burn of a lifetime from the social media team at Wendy’s, the fast food chain. Wendy’s is famous for their talent at making fun of people and organizations. They were the first to do this as a marketing strategy. During National Roast Day, without any particular reason, Wendy’s decided to go all out and delivered a brutally savage roast to Edelman. “Which generic slot receiver would be irrelevant without Tom Brady? Is this again? Let me guess, you have a podcast, too? Fun-sized Pat McAfee” said Wendy’s.

But wait a minute, let’s give credit where credit is due. Pat McAfee is one of the hottest talking heads in the game right now! After the initial sting wears off, you might find a hidden half-compliment somewhere. Though, kudos to Edelman for taking it in stride and being a good sport about it. Wendy’s knows how to dish out the burns; this one directed at Edelman left a lasting impression.
