Frank Clark, a key part of the Chiefs’ defense, was an asset on the field. But his time with the team has reportedly neared its end. After spending the last four years with the franchise, neither the Chiefs nor the DE could find a middle ground on a revised contract. Despite losing a competent star from the field, the Chiefs have much to gain from this outcome. However, fans are disheartened to see Clark go. So, why did the Chiefs come to this conclusion?

The Kansas City Chiefs are cutting ties for a telling reason

According to reports, Kansas City is planning to release Frank Clark. By doing so, the franchise saves $21 million against the 2023 salary cap, which is no small amount. NFL Insider Adam Schefter took to Twitter to share the following update.

Clark’s tenure with the Chiefs has been more than fruitful. Evolving into a Pro-Bowler from 2019 to 2021, the growth in his career is on an upward incline.

However, Chiefs Nation is sad to see him go. After footage of the DE tearfully soaking in the Kansas City’s’ recent Super Bowl LVII victory made its rounds on Twitter, fans shared their feelings on his release.
