There was a general idea that the Green Bay Packers were not the same team coming into this season. However, nobody expected them to be quite as bad as this. The team is currently 4-7  and any play-off chances seem to slip away. In addition to a younger receiving corps. Their veteran leader, Aaron Rodgers, has also been missing the mark this season. While this comes as a surprise to many, it has escalated to such an extent that his own fans are booing him and calling for Jordan Love to start over the 38-year-old.

Nick Wright, an NFL analyst, agrees with the fans. While talking on his show, ‘First Things First’ on FOX, addressed the worrying form of A-Rod and what it means for the Packers.

According to Wright, it is time the organization stops being overly cautious with the player and gives a chance to Jordan Love. “I am about done with everyone acting like you gotta walk on eggshells (around Rodgers)” added the analyst. “Listen, and to quote Don Draper ‘that’s what the money is for.’” Explaining the player simply needs to be benched.

Additionally, he would not care if the player went to Pat McAfee‘s show to whine and cry about the treatment.

Rodgers has just signed a new deal with the team earlier this year. Extending his deal for 3 more years, worth $150 million. With $101 million guaranteed. The deal was the result of back-to-back MVP-winning seasons. However, the player has fallen from grace this year. So far, he is looking way below his usual self.

And Wright reminds everyone that the player will make that money, anyway. “You got $50 million a year. You’re gonna get it next year from us (Packers) or from someone else“. According to the analyst, the organization has to be straight with the player. And bench him to see whether Jordan Love is their guy or not going into the next season.

The 24-year-old quarterback is a former first-round pick from the 2020 NFL draft. He has only played 8 games in his tenure with the team right now. And has remained an unknown quantity until. Following the unexpectedly poor season of the Packers and A-Rod fans are now demanding to see him take snaps for the team.

Even with the momentum indicating that Love might see more game time. He is not so sold on being the mainstay QB for the team. When asked about the chances of leaving and playing somewhere else, he replied, “It’s a possibility.”

Even wright realizes the scope of risk with the young quarterback. However, he should be given a chance to help the team evaluate whether to trade Rodgers or Love.
