The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are struggling through the season, and their problems are both offensive and defensive in nature. After a humiliating loss last game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, questions arose about the changes that will come along. And while the Bucs head coach Todd Bowles agrees there are problems that need to be solved, he has outright crossed off one possible source for these solutions: former head coach and now senior advisor, Bruce Arians.
During Wednesday’s press conference, Bowles was asked if he would consider approaching Bruce Arians for advice on fixing their offensive woes. But Bowles did not seem to be very enthusiastic about that question and clearly elucidated he will not be taking any such measures.

“This is my team, not Bruce’s team. We talk all the time. But you don’t jump-start (the offense) by asking a former coach what to do. We have our own things to deal with and we understand that. We’ve been with Bruce long enough to know what he wants but they’ve been with me long enough to know what I want, so we’re working towards that,” he said.
Todd Bowles Buccaneers are 3-3 as the team slumps in performance
The Bucs have had a disastrous start to the season. Having lost 3 of their opening 6 games, their status as ‘a team to be feared’ is slowly draining away. With Tom Brady’s personal struggles accentuating the problems with the team, the Bucs are under even more pressure to perform better. Their loss against the Steelers is a surprise, but in retrospect, maybe a much-needed wake-up call.

Also, it seems Tom Brady’s personal issues have started affecting his performance, contrary to what many claimed. His red zone conversions (in 6 games) are at an all-time low, and his touchdowns are also greatly reduced. This has resulted in the thier points per game being dramatically lesser than last year after 6 games. Added to that, the Bucs have the lowest rushing yards per game in the NFL this year.
Brady and the Bucs face a not-in-form Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers are 1-5, which means a defeat here will be humiliating at best and can seal their fate as a non-threatening team. A win, however, will not have a proportional takeaway, and will not mean much in terms of analyzing their performances. Will Brady and the Bucs survive Week 7 unscathed?
