There are tensions in The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott is caught in the middle of it. The 30-year-old is at a crossroads with his career since his ankles got injured. The numbers post-injury aren’t satisfying at all. Is this why Jerry Jones added Trey Lance to the Cowboy’s Arsenal?
Stephen A. Smith had a lot to say about this. “He’s [Jerry Jones] not playing”, said Smith on ESPN’s First Take. It may as well be Prescott’s last year with the Cowboys because Jerry Jones is running out of patience.

Jones revealed that he wanted to pick Jalen Hurts back in 2020. Unfortunately for him, things didn’t go as he wanted them to. The Eagles got Jalen Hurts first leaving Jones dry.
“It’s rare for someone of high enough quality to be at our draft pick” mentioned The Cowboys Owner.
On the other hand, the recent Trey Lance trade might be due to his dissatisfaction with Prescott. However, this can also be a shrewd financial decision because Lance already received his bonus. It would be naïve to comment on his decision, this may even be a scare tactic.
The 30-year-old QB had a rough 2022 season. The ankle injury forced Prescott to miss 5 major games. But this hasn’t stopped The Cowboys Owner from making any changes he deemed fit. Apparently, the Cowboys QB had no idea about the Trey Lance trade. Even though this comes as a surprise to him, he hopes for the best.
It should also be noted The Cowboys are at the top of Forbes’ Richest Sports Teams List. This shows that there might be some pressure on Jones to be on top of everything. Jerry Jones seems to have his eyes on young talent too. Older players are more susceptible to injuries and their performance fades over the years. This is not a mystery.

ESPN’s First Take host, Stephen A. Smith supported this. “Prescott can still ball, but there’s a business side to the game. “Clearly, he’s [Prescott] not a scrub,” said the host.
Prescott is still a human despite his superhuman abilities. His being kept in the dark would surely have some effect on him. Stakes are always high when it comes to the Cowboys, but is it fair to keep secrets?
