Pompliano took to Twitter to share the fact that the league spent the last two years meticulously preparing the grass that was on the field during Super Bowl LVII.
The NFL has spent two years preparing the grass for tonight’s field at the Super Bowl.
The grass was grown at a local sod farm in Phoenix.
It was installed two weeks ago, and the field has been rolled out each morning for daily sunshine.

According to ESPN, high-quality grass is better adapted to cold, drought, wear, and disease. The effort that was put into the grass for the Super Bowl is exceptional, costing a whopping $800,000.

Pompliano’s thread on Twitter also described the other intricacies of the project.
The grass sits on a 40-inch deep tray that measures 234 feet wide and 403 feet long.
The field travels 740 feet when it goes inside/outside the stadium & the entire process takes about an hour.

With millions watching the most anticipated game of the season every year, the margin for error on the management front is very small.
