Tom Brady is the type of player who cannot sit on the bench. He needs to be in the thick of the action. But he couldn’t against the Atlanta Falcons as the team did not want to risk injury to their greatest asset. Benched Brady battled bitter emotions in his head after a setback loss against the Falcons.
Brady started the game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 18. But he had to be content with watching his team lose from the sidelines as the coaching staff took him off before half-time.

Tom Brady opened up about how he felt sitting on the bench and watching his team lose against a division rival. Speaking on the issue during his weekly ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, Brady said that the feeling of not being able to do anything was hard to deal with.
“I would’ve liked to win. We all would’ve liked to win yesterday. It’s tough to end the season on a losing note. I was sitting there in the fourth quarter, and I looked at Byron [Leftwich], our offensive coordinator. And I said,’ God this feeling s*cks’,” Brady said.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB then admitted that the team had a plan going into Week 18 against the Falcons. And he credited the hosts for playing aggressively.
“A lot of our first team guys had been removed at that point and you are on the road against a division opponent. You know, they played pretty aggressively I should say. Which they should, I would’ve done the same thing if I were them. We had a kind of a plan going into the game,” the lead QB added.
The Buccaneers lost the way after benching Brady and a whole lot of regular starters. But with playoffs just a week away, the move makes sense. Especially when the game makes no difference in the playoff picture. And TB12’s backups finally got the chance to get onto the field.
The positive from the Brady benching
Even though the Buccaneers lost against the Falcons, there is some positive that came out of it. QB2 Blaine Gabbert got a chance to shine in whatever little time he got on the field. And he did impress, scoring a touchdown to give the Bucs a lead at halftime. Even QB3 Kyle Trask got a chance.
