DeAndre Hopkins is making a lot of noise this off-season. His days as an Arizona Cardinals player might be numbered. And according to new activity on social media, he might want to team up with Stefon Diggs at the Buffalo Bills next season. But everybody knows how Skip Bayless is. He went on record and gave his thoughts about this possible trade and he does not share Hopkins’ opinion.

According to the famed sports commentator, Hopkin’s massive salary hit is getting in the way of the best wide receiver duo in football. Will the Bills still go for him to make their super offense even more frightening?

Skip Bayless doesn’t think that the Buffalo Bills would want to go for DeAndre Hopkins this offseason. And for him, that is because of the massive salary cap hit that he will bring to any team that the wide receiver goes to.

“He has two years left on his contract at, you ready for this, a 31-million-dollar cap hit for this season and then a 26-million-dollar cap hit for the following season,” Bayless said on his show ‘Undisputed’.

The rumors about the wide receiver going to the Bills popped up after D-Hop shared an Instagram story featuring Bob Marley’s ‘Buffalo Soldier’. Many fans, including Bayless, joined the dots with his desire to join the Bills.

If D-Hop goes to Highmark Stadium, he will join another big-name wide receiver in Stefon Diggs. And both of them can become the deadliest outlets available for Josh Allen. But the cap hit might just prevent it from happening.

The Bills haven’t gone past the AFC championship since their 1994 Super Bowl appearance. They were one of the favorites to do it in the 2022 season but fell short again. Can Hopkins be the answer to their problems?

A problematic couple of seasons

DeAndre Hopkins is an elite wide receiver in his own right. But he has struggled to play in the last couple of seasons for the Cardinals. He missed a big chunk of the 2021 season due to an MCL injury in his knee. He then missed the first six games of the 2022 season with a PED suspension. Apart from that, he also missed the last two games due to a knee strain.

So, the WR hasn’t really featured properly for the Cardinals in the last couple of seasons. He just managed 717 receiving yards last season. So, he hasn’t played at the level he set for himself throughout his career. But can he do a better job at a new place, especially with the kind of offense that the Bills have?
