The New England Patriots are currently 1-3 heading into Week 5 of the ongoing NFL season. The 6-time Super Bowl winners succumbed to their 3rd loss of the season on the weekend at the hands of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots are third in their division behind the Miami Dolphins.
While rookie quarterback Mac Jones has done a commendable job thus far, the Patriots are looking to add more depth to their roster as we approach the midway stage of the 2021 NFL season. In order to achieve more stability, coach Bill Belichick is turning to a proven performer in the form of veteran linebacker Jamie Collins.

Jamie Collins planning a third stint with New England Patriots
A reunion in the making: the Patriots are working towards a deal with free agent LB Jamie Collins to bring him back for his third stint with the team, per source.
Collins should be able to contribute right away given his familiarity with the system.

31-year old Jamie Collins arrived was drafted by the New England Patriots as a 2nd round pick (52nd overall) in the 2013 NFL draft. He spent three seasons in Foxborough before signing for the Cleveland Browns in 2016. But three years later, Collins returned to Boston and spent one year with New England before joining the Detroit Lions in 2020.
However, 8 years after making his debut with the Patriots, Collins is set to reunite with coach Belichick for the 3rd time in his career. Jamie Collins, who made the Pro Bowl in 2015, will serve as a backup linebacker for the Patriots as they challenge for a playoff spot in 2021.

Collins will immediately join team practice ahead of this week’s game against the Houston Texans. The Patriots will look to bounce back from Week 4’s narrow loss to the Buccaneers. It remains to be seen if Collins will be given an opportunity to step onto the football field as a Patriot, for the 3rd time in his career.
